What You Need To Bring
Food
- Children are required to bring their own healthy food
each day for example fresh fruit, crackers, sandwiches,
muffins, rice or noodles in a named lunch box and water
in a named drink bottle. Please do not bring chocolate,
sweets, (or any type food that a child could mistake for
being a lollie), peanuts or any other nuts as we have
several children with allergies to nuts) roll ups,
chips, or soft drinks and juice. Please place your child’s lunch in the kitchen
at the beginning of your child’s session.
Clothing
– Because play and exploration can often be wet or
messy, children should be dressed in old clothes. Please
provide your child with two changes of clothing each
day. In summer your child will be required to wear a sun
hat and staff will apply sun screen from the cancer
society in the morning and
in the
afternoon. If you prefer you can supply your child with
their own sun screen, please hand it to the staff in the
morning.
Nappies
– If your child wears nappies you need to provide at
least 3 disposable nappies for each day that your child
attends these can be left in their bag, alternatively if
your child attends more than 3 days a week you may leave
a bag of nappies at the centre.
Toileting
When you feel that your child is ready for toilet
training please discuss this with the staff. We ask that
you start toilet training at home first so that you can
assess whether or not your child is ready.
Medication
If staff need to administer medication provided by you
it must be handed to the teachers when you arrive and
not left in their bags, you will then need to write the
medication in our ‘Medical Register’ book placed in the
kitchen.
Child Health
If your child shows signs of illness we ask that they be
kept at home so that the illness does not spread through
the centre. The supervisor may at her discretion refuse
to accept a child deemed unwell enough to attend the
centre and ask that a medical certificated be obtained
stating that they are fit to return. Please do not bring
children that are vomiting, have diarrhea,
conjunctivitis, rashes or raised temperatures, if your
child develops any of these symptoms you will be
contacted to arrange immediate collection of your child
from the centre.
Rest
After lunch children who require a rest will be put to
bed in the sleep room on their own bed and blankets
provided by the centre. If a child falls asleep they are
in need of rest and will not be woken unless parents
have requested otherwise. Some children may not need
sleep but quiet activities will be available.
Excursions
/ Trips
Excursions out of the centre will be arranged from time
to time parents are encouraged to be part of this
outing. Permission slips outlining the trip, transport,
cost and adult / child ratio will be given to all
parents to complete prior to an outing. Children who are
unable to attend the excursion will remain at the Centre
with a trained staff member. At times children may be
taken on small walks in the local area approval for
these are given when completing the enrolment form.
